I finally got everything on my page set up and I so glad. The writer deep inside of me has been dying to get out and talk to you.
Do you ever have those times that you feel incredibly blessed because of something someone else got to do? I had one of those times recently and I want to tell you about it. Recently my daddy and his wife went on a twelve day trip to Hawaii with my brother Allan and his family. They had been planning it for months when Allan hurt his back and ended up having surgery for a ruptured disk. He had the surgery one month before they were scheduled to leave on their trip. He did really well but it was touch and go...back and forth on whether he was going to be able to make the trip. Thankfully due to the power of prayer and the mighty healing power of God....he was well enough to go ....just in time.
My daddy is 70 years old. He is one of the most humble and tender men you will ever meet. He is the greatest hero that I have. He is the perfect example of what a Christian man should be. He always puts his family first and is perfectly happy just to be with us doing nothing. About a week into their trip my daddy called me from Hawaii. He was so excited and he was talking a mile a minute. He was telling me about all the things that they had been doing.....I just had to smile as he talked because I could just picture him in my mind. He was first talking about the flight. I think the only other flight he had ever been on was in a a small four or six seater....a long time ago so this 9 1/2 hours flight was a big deal. He and Virginia had window seats. He was saying they looked out the window the whole time pointing out every thing they saw ..... the landscapes, the water, the Rockie Mountains....and on and on. I was smiling like the Cheshire cat just listening to him talk. Then he was telling me about going to Pearl Harbor, climbing Diamond Head volcano and seeing the view, and taking a helicopter ride on the island of Kauai. He was so happy. He sounded like a little kid he was so excited. He said... never in all my life did I think I would ever get to take a trip like this.
Friends the fact that my daddy and Virginia got to go on this trip .... blessed me more than it would have if it had been my trip. Sometimes God gives us blessings through the things that he does for other people and we need to remember to enjoy those and count them as our very own. This is one blessing that I won't ever forget.
Thank you God for blessing my wonderful family with this trip. It greatly blessed me too!!
